I tried just about everything, including sanding the parts in order to get them to fit together properly. Sliding the header pipe into the exhaust can section was very, very difficult (an extremely tight fit). If you don't get it set up just right, the exhaust cans will not appear parallel and/or not even fit properly into the retainer bracket. I must have spent 90% of the installation time working on this aspect alone.

Wrestling with the rear cylinder parts (sliding the two V&H supplied parts together and getting them set up properly) was a lot more difficult than I had thought it would be. It's not the like front cylinder connections which are pretty much just the exhaust cans which attach to the stock/factory pipes. These pipes are almost a full exhaust design (if it wasn't for that short exhaust stub). Just to clarify, the rear cylinder V&H pipes connect up to the little stock stubs that actually connect to the exhaust output port on the rear cylinder heads. That said, I don't think it really leaks exhaust from there either so it's probably not as big a deal as I thought it might be. There was no sort of compression mating adapter as there were for the front cylinder pipes. No matter how tight I tried to get the clamp, I felt that I could still turn the pipe if I wanted to. I just think they don't seal as well as they should.

And it's probably the only pipe commercially available that actually makes a big increase in power across all the rpm points.I also had some trouble with the fitting of the rear cylinder V&H exhaust parts. Looks are subjective, but I agree this is a fine looking pipe and it makes the bike look much leaner. Here's a thread that shows pics of the bracket: But I raced a buddy's 95ci 115hp T-man springer and pulled him pretty good, before the pipe it was a tie. I have not dynoed the bike, so there is no before and after comparison. The heat shields supplied with this pipe cover the primaries and only a small portion of the collector and muffler. There is also a product called "Blue Job" that supposedly will remove any bluing, I have some but haven't used it either. It's bound to happen eventually, and I haven't rode the bike more than a few hundred miles since I installed the pipe. I haven't installed them because it looks great so far with no blueing (yet). The heat shields cost $150 (just checked my invoice).
